Valerie and all,
The women in the show representing the Organic Trade is Katherine
Dimatteo, the Executive Director of the Organic Trade Association. However
she looked she was not given the choice of which segments of the interview
were used in the show, ask the producers about that. As an official
representative of an organization such as the OTA it important o stick to
the truth, as witnessed in the last few weeks no one has come forward with
definitive scientific proof that organic food is more nutritious than
conventional food. It is my guess that the worst organic farmers produce
food of lesser quality than the best conventional farmers, and vice a
versa. But I would never say that organic food is ALWAYS more nutritious
than conventional food. Katherine may not have been dramatic, may not have
been allowed to play emotional games with words and facts but at least she
spoke truth. As an organic farmer I found Avery and Stossell insulting, and
dangerous. I hope when the time comes for each of us to present ourselves
in the media we can stick to clear truth and not hype and innuendo as they
did.
