RE: 20/20 Organic Food

i did not see the show, but everything i have heard about it makes it sound
unbalanced and awful . . . however on this point, nutritional value, it may
have been reasonably accurate, although lacking in detail . . .
i am not a food scientist or a human physiologist; however my understanding
of the state of our knowledge at the moment is the following:
1) it has been shown that food produced under some organic regimes has
higher levels of human nutrients than comparable samples of food produced
under conventional regimes . . .
2) it has not been shown that consumption of food produced under organic
regimes leads to better human health than the consumption of comparable food
produced under conventional regimes . . . in part this is because:
2a) the short term feeding studies do not show any significant differences .
. .
2b) the long term feeding studies and multi-generational studies have not
been done . . .
i hope that more knowledgeable persons will correct my understanding if it
is not correct

I thought the show was unbalanced and awful, but wasn't anyone else
disturbed by
the woman representing organic food? When the question was asked about the
nutritional value, she said that she felt organic food was just as
nutritious as
conventional food. And repeated it when John Stossel asked the question
again.
What kind of answer was this? I thought her behavior was almost evasive. She
certainly didn't help; and if I were weighing the possibility of one over
the
other, I definitely would not be inclined to try organic food!
