I have a neighbor who grazes cattle and is asking me some questions that
I don't have the expertise for. He says that after several years his
pastures are getting compacted. His stocking rates are normal for this
area -1 cow per acre. He applied Ca last fall which i'm sure will help.
He has some clover and quite a few grasses. should he aireate? do you
have to reestablish every few years? He thinks that last summers drought
really hurt the longevity of the pastures because they were over grazed.
what should he do this coming year to sustainably maximize his pastures?
