One of the most efficient and effective sources of Vitamin D is plain
old sunshine. Last time I was working in Mexico there appeared to be no
shortage thereof. Sunlight reacts with skin oils --- in particular
cholesterol variants --- and is *resorbed* as vitamin D. In other
words, don't wash it off. I would guess (but do not know) that in a
climate like Mexico, dietary sources of vitamin D are completely
unnecessary.
