salmonella in free range eggs-unknown

  For example, can anyone
tell me whether the kind of dangerous samonella found in
industrially-produced eggs are also found in small, true free-range,
well-cared- for laying hens?

This was brought up on the professional poultry health list, a normally very
sedate list, and it became verbal fisticuffs.

Once they were backed into a corner by a half dozen pastured poultry and
ratite folks, it was begrudgingly admitted the high salmonella found in
free-range eggs were from farms that were basically chicken feed lots.
There is no data on current free-range pasturing practices.
