Sorry I did not get back to you. I was busy outdoors and did not have time
to respond or even look at my e-mail; however, I see that several people
have already posted much good info for you on brucellosis.
Here are some other concerns when drinking raw milk:
1) Some of the bacteria that cause mastitis can cause sickness in humans.
Never use infected milk for human consumption, especially for babies. All
milk products should be pasteurized or boiled before being fed to babies or
sick people. To pasteurize, place milk in a glass or stainless steel
container. Rapidly heat the milk to 74C or 165F and hold at that
temperature for 20 seconds while stirring. Rapidly cool the milk to 15.5C
or 60 F and store it at 4 to 7C or 40-45F.
2)Listeriosis --- can cause serious diseases in humans. If a herd is
infected, milk should be boiled or pasteurized before use. Pregnant women
should avoid infected animals. Symptom can range from a mild irritation on
the hands to a severe blood poisoning disease. Encephalitis and abortion of
pregnant women may also be produced by listeriosis.

Agricultural Development, A Field Guide for Producers with Limited
Veterinary Services, by Thomas R. Thedford, DVM - Printed in collaboration

Testing for all these factors is not cheap. However, I have had all my
goats tested and cleared for the above in addition to brucellosis. I have a
"closed" herd, but will test again before I use any milk. I also have a
pasteurizer.
