Hello:

Bob Meyer here with the Healthy Farmers, Healthy Profits project at the
UW-Madison. We are funded by the National Insitute for Occupational Safety
and Health (NIOSH) and the National Occupational Research Agenda
(NORA). Our website has recently been updated and we've added additional
free "tip sheets" which can be downloaded, or viewed from our site. Web
address: www.bse.wisc.edu/hfhp

(If you plan on distributing or reprinting our tipsheets, please send a
message to me at rhmeyer1@facstaff.wisc.edu so we can properly report to
our funders.)

The tipsheets -- ergonomic and technological changes for better labor
efficiency and profitability are:

Small-scale vegetable growers:
-mesh bags for batch processing
-standard containers for better bulk handling
-organization of packing sheds
-narrow pallet systems for smaller farms.
-a rolling dibble marker for speedier transplanting
-using a three-wheeled seated cart to ease stooped labor
-plans for building a seated work cart

Dairy farms:
-silage bags
-long-day lighting
-on-site calf feed preparation area
-using bottle holders to feed calves.

More tip sheets will be added in the coming months.

Best Regards,

Bob Meyer
