Folks: I am passing on this query for a colleague. He has a 1997 brochure from a
Swiss company "Lonza" which markets a product called META (which is metaldehyde;
formula C8H16O4), for use in a wide range of crops. They state in the pamphlet:

""Due to the fact that META is not harming beneficial organisms like earthworms
and carabid beetles, it is ideal for use in Integrated Pest Management production
systems. It is officially approved by the EU to be fit for use in organic
farming."

Can one of our European friends pls check and confirm for me if this is true? Is
META approved for use in organic farming in Europe? Thanks in advance. Ann
