Position Announcement

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) is working to build a
movement of rural and urban communities to foster family-scale agriculture
that cares for the land, sustains local economies and promotes social
justice. CAFF's programs combine education and advocacy to promote
biological farming, protect farmland and water resources and increase the
economic viability of family farming. CAFF seeks a highly motivated
individual with management experience to oversee current programs and
develop dynamic new programs which fulfill CAFF's mission. This is a
full-time position based in Davis.

Job Responsibilities:
o Provide Program Leadership and Development. Provide leadership to CAFF's
existing programs. Work with staff, board and others to develop new
programs.

o Participate on the Management Team. The Management Team serves as a forum
for coordinating management and discussing organizational issues and
concerns. The Program Director represents the needs and interests of the
department on the team.

o Supervise Program Implementation and Staff. Guide the development of an
annual department workplan with goals and objectives that meet the
organization's strategic goals. Serve as direct supervisor for lead program
staff. Oversee and coordinate the work of program consultants and manage
program contracts. Chair regular departmental check-in and strategy
meetings.

o Support Organizational Integration and Team Building. Chair program
coordinators group, staff the Program and Planning Committee of the Board
and participate in organizational committees and task forces as appropriate.

o Serve as CAFF Representative and Spokesperson. Represent CAFF at
conferences, meetings and events and on public advisory committees.
Participate in coalition building activities.

o Assist Fundraising Efforts. Assist development staff with donor
prospecting, strategy development and proposal review. Facilitate program
staff participation in development work.

Qualifications: Minimum 3 years experience in supervision, organizational
management and team-oriented leadership required. Excellent communication,
project management and team building skills necessary. Knowledge of
sustainable agriculture issues and commitment to grassroots change desired.
Willingness to travel on a regular basis.

Salary and Benefits: Starting salary range $34- 40,000. CAFF provides a
benefits package that includes three weeks of paid vacation per year,
personal leave, holidays, health insurance and flexible scheduling. CAFF is
