A great idea, but my lawyers will be talking to your lawyers about
patent infringement. You see, I'm working on patenting the enzymes which
convert di-hydrogen oxide and carbon dioxide into sugars. (I also plan
to cover my ass and patent the conversion of sugars into carbohydrates.)
Future plans include the patenting of the entire carbon cycle. I can
hire Pinkerton detectives to check around to see if anyone is cycling
carbon. I plan to start with the big farms and work my way down to yards
and gardens. Think about it- everyone with soil will have to pay
royalties. Bill Gates will be a pauper by comparison. I will control the
entire earth!
So, looks like I can either drive you to your knees with costly
litigation or buy you out. Hmmmm... The first would be more fun, seeing
as how I'm into power and control anyway. Perhaps I will just toy with
you to watch you squirm. On second thought, a hostile takeover would be
much less expensive, and money IS everything. Or is it power?
AH! There's a third alternative. You could franchise the use of oxides
of hydrogen and I, the use of oxides of carbon. We could form a cartel
that, on the surface would look like good ole 'merican capitalism, but
would really be a gentleman's agreement. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say
no more...)
There's plenty of money out there for you and me- but, we don't want the
hoarders to get it!
