I have seen this statistic not only on lists, but also in some printed
articles, that the probability an American will develop cancer within
her/his lifetime is now 1 in 2. But I have not seen so far an
authoritative source cited. I imagine there's one, we've just got to
search for it.
Let's be careful though: 1 in 2 refers to a life-time probability. It
does not mean that 1 in 2 Americans today have cancer, (but will
develop cancer within his/her lifetime).
