The Next Agricultural Revolution: Reclaiming the PASAbilities

MILLHEIM -- Get ready to "Reclaim the PASAbilities" in food and farming
as
the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture presents
Vandana Shiva, John Todd, and an all-star cast of workshop
speakers at the 9th annual Farming for the Future conference Feb.
4 and 5, 2000 in State College, PA.

An Alternative Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1993 (Right Livelihood
Award),
Shiva is an author and world-renowned environmentalist. Her newest book,

Stolen Harvest: The hijacking of the global food supply, scrutinizes the

impacts of corporate agriculture and genetic engineering on the global
food
system.

Todd, the recipient of the Chico Mendes Environmental Merit Award, among

others, is a visiting professor of Ecological Design at the University
of
Vermont, and was founder of the New Alchemy Institute and is co-founder
and
director of Living Technologies Inc. His groundbreaking work in
ecological
design has led to the development of innovative technologies called
"living
machines" which are capable of biological waste treatment, water
purification, and organic food production.

Workshop topics during the two-day event will explore the PASAbilities,
featuring Diane Kauffman on pastured poultry, Roman Stoltzfoos on
grass-based dairy systems, Elaine Ingham on soil health and composting,
JJ Haapala and Hope Shand on seed ownership/GMOs/globalization,
Elizabeth
Henderson on CSA, as well as lots of organic vegetable production,
rotational grazing, and value-added
marketing sessions.
