Death Bed Recantion Report Caution

Don't know anything about the argument you reference here but the death bed
recanation tactic has been used before in earlier times. Remember,
Voltaire was reported by his opponents to have recanted on his death bed as
well. Very useful in the culture wars of the day esp. as he was not around
