Hi. I'm interested in a sociological aspect of sustainable agriculture, so if
anyone has an idea who might answer this question better, please forward this m
essage right on to them, if you would. I'm trying to compare the efforts and s
uccesses and structural needs of women farmers in sustainable agriculture, both
in the U.S. and Latin America. I may have some good case studies from an Afri
can country as well. What I need is suggestions on recently published studies
of women organic farmers in the U.S. (and Latin America, tho that may be easily
obtainable elsewhere). Specifically, I am looking for the following informati
on: how many American farmers are women; how many organic American farmers are
women (I realize some of these figures may not be available); is extension ava
ilable for women farmers that meets needs they may different from men?; do they
make less/equal money to men farmers when farming with conventional methods and
/or organic methods?; do they have equal access to credit to buy land as men, i
n this country? That should cover it. So far, all I have is an old copy of "O
rganic Farmer" magazine's issue on women. Thanks for any suggestions. Keep up
the good work.
