sustainable agriculture definition

A response to DeeAnna Weed:

My comment is to the idea that agriculture should move from the San Joaquin
Valley to more humid regions. Although the water delivery situation to
southern California may not be sustainable, it is
possible (probable) that more humid regions use more insecticides
and/or fungicides than the dry climate of the San Joaquin. This just points
out that nothing is simple and we should be aware of the trade-offs involved.

I didn't read the original definition of sustainable agriculture that
DeeAnna is responding to but I agree with her that people being able to
make a living at farming is an important part of the definition.
