"YEAR 2000: IS SAFETY & PREPAREDNESS THE OBJECTIVE OR
STABILITY IN THE FINANCIAL SERVICES INDUSTRY?

Most Americans are under the impression that
everything is OK with regards to the Year 2000
technology problem. According to the Center for Y2K
& Society:"

Oh, for cyring out loud! The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

Seems to me that the real problem with Y2K is not that there might be small
computer failures and maybe even a (very) temporary loss of electricity or
whatever. The real problem is with people who WANT to see chaos. They
drool at the thought of A. being able to say "I told you so.", and B. being
able to really justify all the extra preparations and hundreds (thousands?)
of dollars they spent stocking up on food, ammo, generators, batteries,
etc.

Hey, wake up! The world will not collapse, farmers will still grow food,
trucks will still deliver food, and groceries will still sell it. We will
still have electricity, natural gas, or a campfire with which to cook it.
The only ones that will get hurt are those who go running through the
streets in a panic, and those who are unfortunate enough to be in their
way. What chaos there is will not be caused by the Y2K bug, but by nut
cases and those who want to have an excuse to riot.
