Meredith R Reeves asked: <snip>
My senior environmental studies seminar is proposing that sustainable ag
be
included in the env studies curriculm, and needs convincing evidence. Any
sources, books, comments, etc would be appreciated. I think that it is a
really interesting point of debate. <snip>
Although not inappropriate in env. studies curriculm, wouldn't it
be better as a subset of Agriculture? Or is that where conventional
agriculture is already located? Seems to me that if it is put in
environmental studies, it will be looked on as an interesting (but
useless) sideline of biological science and won't be taken seriously as
an economic sector like it should. On the other hand, maybe it doesn't
have a chance in Agriculture because the School of Ariculture most likely
depends heavily on grants from big chemical and seed companies. I'd
rather see it in env. studies than nowhere. I look forward to reading
other replys.
This is just 2 cents' worth from someone who's been out of
college a long time and only occassionally takes a non-credit class in
something of particular interest.
