IMHO, agriculture should be in liberal arts legislation. Why hang the flag
of sustainability on it? The issues of concern to us will emerge if you
just put AGRICULTURE on the agenda.

After years as a closet sustaggie, calling myself an agroecologist, I've
been trying to come out to ag school and extension people. I've been
pitching the Consortium for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education
(CSARE). Surprise. The concept of sustainability still doesn't go down
very well. But when you say "if you eat, you're involved in agriculture,"
then people have to agree.

Just study and teach agriculture.
