Spanish-titled research reports

At a recent Southern Region SARE meeting, a representative from Puerto
Rico suggested it would benefit many Spanish speaking farmers if the titles
of research reports on our web site could be listed in Spanish as well as English.
She said that many farmers have limited time to spend on public
computers in libraries and they generally print off documents to read
later at home. They are thwarted from locating potentially useful
reports by English-only titles. Once they locate and print the
English documents, she said it is not difficult for them to have someone
translate it for them.

The English-only people at our meeting were surprised that just
listing titles in Spanish could be useful. While translating all of
our research reports into Spanish at this time is not feasible, the
titles on our Southern Region SARE reports could be managed. Have
any of you who post research documents received similar requests? Do
any of you who work with Spanish speaking farmers think it would be
useful? Does anyone on this list work as a Spanish translator? I
realize we need to hire a translator who is knowledgable about sustainable
agriculture. Right now the titles for all Southern Region
reports would amount to about four pages or less. How much should we
expect to pay for that amount of translation? Thanks for your input.
