I've been hearing and reading all sorts of smoke and mirrors things
about these regs., and how they will affect the small farmer,
community-based food initiatives, etc. I understand that the food
safety guide for farmers at the FDA page which follows is the basis for
what the regulations will be.
(http://www.foodsafety.gov/~dms/prodguid.html). I'm not certain if this
is the same information which Laurie posted earlier
(http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/prodguid.html). They appear identical.
The certifying organizations who will oversee these regs. are private
sector as I understand it, and they've been doing presentations on how
the regs. will be implemented. They are the same organizations whose
logos and seals appear on the ads for large supermarket chains in large
metropolitian areas. It appears that corporate food processors are on
board with the development of the regulations, again, only from what
I've heard.
Does anyone know where these new regulations are being developed? Is
the small farmer perspective being presented?
