The search for the Director of the Leopold Center for Sustainable
Agriculture in Iowa is nearing completion. The search was extended so that
candidates for the Leopold Director position could be informed of the list
of candidates being interviewed for the Dean of the College of Agriculture
position. For many potential candidates this information was very
important because the Director of the Leopold Center will report to the
Dean of the College of Agriculture. Shown below are the candidates being
interviewed for the Dean's position. Applications for the Director of the
Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture are still being accepted with an
announcement of finalists expected in mid-November. Application

College of Agriculture Dean finalists are Alan Bennett, associate dean of
the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of
California, Davis; Cornelia Butler Flora, director of the North Central
Regional Center for Rural Development, Iowa State; Joseph Jwu-shan Jen,
dean of the College of Agriculture, California Polytechnic State
University, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; Gary Minish, head of the department of
animal and poultry sciences, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University, Blacksburg; Colin Scanes, executive associate dean of
agriculture at Iowa State; and Paul Wangsness, senior associate dean of the
College of Agricultural Sciences, The Pennsylvania State University,
University Park.
