The price on Anita's eggs would be high for supermarket eggs in my
area. Feed for the hens needs to be shipped over 2500 miles of ocean at
very high cost. The other option for the suppliers is to ship the eggs
in, which is done.
The value to the consumer of free range and organic eggs is still in
flux. Does cruelty free and free range add value to the shell, yoke and
white? Does low stress management of livestock which I practice add
value to lambs? I think it does. My unsolicited suggestion is to sell
high, Edna. Your extra efforts, the art of farming, need to be covered
in dollars and cents.
