Just had to put my two cents worth in here, I am not disagreeing that on the
whole goats may be a better first farm animal. But beginners should beware
if you think cows are never on the wrong side of the fence. I have chased
more than one cow back into the pasture. I guess I would agree that cows
don't usually "try" to get out. But will if the opportunity arises.
Shorted electric fence, broken fence etc. I adore our farm animals, can't
wait to build a barn so I have an excuse to "acquire" more. But they can be
royal pains in the butt. And for all the talk as to their benefit to a
small farm, I very much understand why a small grower feels he/she can't
deal with one more chore. Beth
