Does anyone know anything about the International Food Information Council?
Has anyone seen publications from them? The July/Aug 1999 edition of Food
Insights: Current Topics in Food Safety and Nutrition has great quotes
about what the experts say about food biotechnology. The opening highlight
says, "Foods from biotechnology are safe...According to the scientific
community:. . ." Some of their sources are easily discounted (Glickman,
Jimmy Carter). The others I wonder if something they said is out of
context; others probably have a vested interest somehow in supporting
biotechnology.
They do not define what they mean by biotechnology except as some experts
define it in their supporting statements. I assume, however, they mean
GMOs. They reference the article Myths and Facts about Food Biotechnology,"
which can be found at the website below. Go to their homepage, food safety
and nutrition, and biotechnology for other articles.
