Forgive my cynicism, but this couldn't possibly be as simple as it looks.

But you just KNOW that they've got other gene protection systems in
the wings. You just know it. Not just Pinkertons and Intellectual
Property Court. Terminator is one thing--they went around spending
money on patents like drunken sailors on pay day.
I see Shapiro's comments above as PR. That is, they come up with such
an egregious and horrendous idea, put it out there for everyone to
see, then heroically spare us from it. Reminds me of that /Outer
Limits/ episode, where Robert Culp was mutated into the stalking,
stomping, spook-eyed monster from space, so that the military would
have someone to save us from.
You know I'm not big on conspiracy theories--observing as I have that
few people can get their collective action together sufficiently to
carry a sofa up a flight of stairs and into an apartment. But I've
always felt something of the Smokescreen around Monsanto's Terminator
technology. Call it intuition--but it's so egregious and idiotic,
that anything is bound to seem tame by comparison, eh?
Like the fact that Monsanto has teams working on how to privatize the
world's water. That's not a conspiracy...and was reported here some
months ago.
What do you all think???
