You may want to contact Dave Blood, Director of the Farmer to Farmer program
(USAID funded) based in Lviv, Ukraine. He may have some suggestions, and is
very familiar with existing US gov't and private involvement in ag issues in
the Ukraine. His email: dave@lol.lviv.ua

Dear Fred,

I am a Ukrainian participant of Faculty Exchange Program funded by USDA.
Currently I conduct research at Pennsylvania State University and I look
for possible contacts and opportunities of cooperation between the
Extension Center which I work for in Ukraine and American organizations
which might be interested in cooperation with and support to it.

Our Ukrainian Extension Center provides support to the agricultural
producers of one administrative division of Ukraine (Zaporozhye oblast) in
the following areas:
1) farm restructuring (transformation of agricultural companies with
collective ownership over land and property into private companies);
2) advising services (in technology of crop and animal production, finance,
taxation, accounting, law business planning, decision-making support);
3) training (in technology, finance, taxation, farm management);
4) supply of information (market prices, search for business partners,
etc.);
5) support to cooperatives

The research projects of our Centre also provide a unique
opportunity to understand the effects of social change on agricultural
productivity, production efficiency, and business performance (study of
farm restructuring, ownership transformation, a variety of economic and
sociological research projects, construction of integrated agricultural
information network in Ukraine).

Could you recommend any American organization which might be interested in
cooperation with our Extension centre in any one of the following areas:
1) exchange of experiences and methodologies;
2) collaboration in joint research and training programs:
3) technical assistance.

Is your organization interested in cooperation with us in the above listed
areas?

Thank you very much for your cooperation.
Hope for an early reply.

Respectfully,
Vlad Valentinov,
Pennsylvania State University, USA
