As an FYI, you should know that it is impossible to get a computer virus
simply by opening an email. You would have to open an accompanying
attachment in the email message, in order to get a virus.

As a safe netizen, it is smart to first scan any attachment with good
antivirus software (I use Norton and McAffee). And even safer, do some
investigation about the attachment: Who sent it? Is it from someone you
know? Where did they get the attachment? Why are they sending it? Was it
something you requested? If you don't get satisfactory answers to these or
other questions, consider simply deleting the email message.

There are a lot of urban legends floating around out there, and this is one
of them. It is wise to investigate these extreme messages before forwarding
them to "everyone" (as the email suggests). One of the best sites I've
found is http://urbanlegends.about.com/ <http://urbanlegends.about.com/>
