Am sorry to hear you will miss the IOIA training. It seems a wonderful
opportunity, not just to become an inspector, but to learn the nuts-n-bolts
of organic certification. Especially for, say, a company who might be
expanding into organic food processing, that would benefit greatly from
having an employee who was versed in the rules & regs of organic production
standards.
Regarding internships at Claymont (see www.claymont.org) I would recommend
it to anyone seeking a biodynamic/organic learning experience with a
spiritual flavor. The community there is extremely diverse & the facility
hosts visitor groups which gather for training, retreat, or celebration. I
encountered Pagans, Tibetan Buddhists, and was exposed to the residents'
spiritual leanings toward The Fourth Way. The facility itself is rich in
history & lore which makes for interesting talk with the community members.
You can plan on working hard, learning a great deal, and eating great food,
as the food is quite wonderful. I suspect you can learn more about the
details of internship from the Biodynamic website
http://www.igg.com/bdnow/menu.html or you can attend the Mid-Atlantic BD
conference there & gather your impressions before committing to
apprenticeship.
Regards,
Julie
