last time they had public input on this there were a lot of good responses
hope they saved them all. my problem is that if we argue for beneficials
and win they will use that to release genetically engineered life under the
guise of and on the coat tails of beneficial insects. saying of course they
are the same as not genetically engineered life. it seem every time they
want to talk about something it is because they want something. the old way
of releasing beneficial really worked out here in Ca. we have got rid of a
lot of pests for real like the citrus scale etc. it use to be colleges were
into biological control heavy back then and it was working but then
chemistry and bio engineering took over . we know living pest controls
works but watch out because genetically engineered stuff is ready to go on
line and they need the biocontrols to piggy back on. IMHO yes to research
on natural predators ,etc and no to genetically engineered life controls.
you know a lacewing can travel 8 miles in the larva state how u going to
keep them off organic farms that can't use stuff that has had their dna
.altered in the lab . we have been using biocontrols in Ca." Natural
biological control" for years and I have not heard of one bad thing, I say
we should do more with biology and less with chemistry but that's not where
the money is. watch out you may be arguing for GMOs and not even know it.
