I will be writing a new book this winter (and possibly into spring?)
on the topic of public farmers' markets.
The goal is to furnish farmers, vendors, and market management with a
single resource of information that will enable them to capture the most
satisfaction and profit from their efforts.
I would like to include a chapter relating successful operations at
public farmers' market all across North America, hence this request. If
you would like to submit an article for possible inclusion in the book,
please forward this material to me as soon as possible. Specifically,
I'm looking for:
* photographs of market displays (b/w or color)
* photographs of market signs
* photographs of special market events/promotions
* stories from successful market farmers
* stories from market managers
* copies of rules and regs for your market
Articles should be a maximum of 2000 words, and preferably e-mailed in
plain text. If you don't like to write, consider a telephone interview
that will allow me to share your story.
Photographs should emphasize action and be close-ups rather than from
across the parking lot.
All submissions become the property of our farm based publishing
enterprise Bittersweet Farmstead. Photographs will be returned only if
you include a SASE with your submission.
Credit will be given in the book to the submitting
author/photographer; however, all material will be copyrighted by the
publisher upon publication of the book.
Any person submitting material that is eventually used in the book
will receive two complimentary copies. Make sure that you include a
shipping address with your submission.
Please submit your material no later than November 30, 1999 to the
