Alternative Agricultural Marketing: Developing Skills for the New Millennium
**A Conference Sponsored by the North Central Region SARE Program**

The North Central Region SARE program is developing a marketing resources
notebook for conference participants and others. (Let me know if you are
interested in a copy!) The marketing notebook is intended to reinforce and
supplement information presented at the conference. The diverse audience for the
notebook includes farmers and ranchers, educators and others working with
farmers and a variety of food and farming groups and business representatives,
including small-scale processors and retailers.
To find notebook resources, I will search various listerve archives, websites
and Sustainable Ag Network (SAN) publications, as well as consult with marketing
organizations and nonprofit groups.
We invite additional suggestions for resources (books, magazines, newsletters,
electronic resources, organizations, programs, events, etc.) that explore the
following topics as related to alternative ag marketing:
Business planning
Marketing and merchandising
Using the Internet
Farmer co-ops and networks
Consumer connections and education
Institutional marketing
Local food systems
Retail/wholesale markets
Restaurant sales
On-farm/small-scale processing
Value added products
Miscellaneous alternative/direct marketing resources
