If you have a low-pressure irrigation system you are probably using, or
will use, a pressure regulator. This will cause your well pump to cycle on
and off frequently. I found a better solution is an elevated tank. We use
two 45-gal drums (55 gals in the US, I think) on a 12-foot tower and divide
the field into zones, with branching lines and valves. For filling the
tank we use an inexpensive electronic timer (first run a test to see how
long it takes your well to fill the tanks). Whatever method you use don't
forget a good filter in the line, and always keep it clean because the drip
lines plug easily.
However you decide to design your system drip irrigation is a very
efficient way to deliver water to your plants. All of the water goes
exactly where your plants need it (of course the weeds like it also). Good
luck and good farming.
