In Europe and North America, organic agriculture has long enjoyed a
favourable image among consumers and more recently, a
growing interest among farmers and public institutions. Organic agriculture
now confronts growing demand that is driving a rapid
enlargement of the market.
It is now faced with the prospect of profound technical and organisational
changes: the specialisation of production systems,
development of new partnerships between producers, their suppliers and the
surrounding community.
The Institute Supérior d'Agriculture Rhône Alpes, with the collaboration of
INRA, and Laval University is organizing a conference
to be held in Lyon in December 1999.
Program Themes:
€The specialization of production systems
€New Markets
€The stakes for public policy
Target audience: academics, producers, distributors, industry, extension
services and policy makers.
