If you or one of your friends needs a challenge, loves rural areas and
enjoys organizing, we might just have what you've been looking for.

Delta Enterprise Network (DEN) has been funded to begin establishing
"enterprise facilitation units" based in Dumas and Almyra, Arkansas and
serving DeSha, Chicot, Phillips, Arkansas, Monroe and Lee Counties.

Three people will be hired as soon as possible to help farmers and rural
communities find sustainable alternatives to least-cost commodity
production.

Initially the work will involve rapid rural appraisal to define the
landscape of value-added diversification in the area, followed by
awareness-building through informal meetings, workshops and a conference in
early November.

As the project develops, staff will be expected to facilitate feasibility
analysis, business plan development and integrative research with farmers,
entrepreneurs and researchers.

Each positions will entail some public policy education work (national,
regional and state).

In a final "working interview" in the Delta, the successful applicants will
demonstrate ability to work with or around local power structures in the
Delta.

Must be willing to move to Dumas and live in the Delta.

Positions will have an intensive three month trial period.

Salary depends on experience ($21-$42,000 per year).
