Hi:
The discussion on buying local, whole foods, bottle necks in
distribution, erroneous claims about products is prevasive in the food
business. We farm also.
Please see: www.smallfarms.com
It's a marketing web site for small farmers and ranchers. The
farmer needs to get closer to the customer in order to do the kind of
consumer education that's necessary for informed decision making to take
place. The cost is $29.00 / year.
A news release follows. Please tell other small farmers and
ranchers about smallfarms.com. We'll need a site full of small farm and
ranch products to attract customers and have their return business.

Thank you. glenn

SMALL FARMERS AND RANCHERS SELL through the INTERNET.

Honokaa, Hawaii. July 22, 1999

Small farmers and ranchers will be listing their products on the
internet site, smallfarms.com, beginning September 1. And they will
not need computers, web sites or e mail. For the estimated 20% of
farmers with computers, they can have their products listed and have the
option of being linked to smallfarms.com. At $29.00 per year the cost
is low.

Consumers will be able to find farmers close to their homes and across
the country using this locator system. After locating a farmer and his
product on smallfarms.com, the consumer can contact the farmer via
phone, e mail, fax or conventional mail. Consumers will deal directly
with the growers of their foods and purchase directly from the farmers.
For many consumers faced with limited choices at their supermarkets and
safe food issues, discovering organic, sustainable products will become
an adventure rather than an ordeal.

One agricultural expert called the smallfarms.com concept, œa novel
idea.”

In addition to foods at smallfarms.com, farmers and ranchers are also
listing farm related goods and services such as ranch accommodations and
even books written by farmers. These non traditional initiatives are
important income generating efforts for many farm businesses today.

The construction of the smallfarms.com web site is taking place in
Denver, Co., and is proceeding ahead of schedule.

The principals of smallfarms.com, Glenn S. and Kathleen E. Oshiro, are
small farmers who are identified with Oshiro Enterprises, Inc., a
forty-year-old, family owned Hawaii corporation.
