I was wondering if anyone could help me:

I heard reference the other day to 'paramagnetism' of basaltic materials =
in, and as an amendment to, soils... and the ability of such materials =
to influence nutrient availability and/or plant health/vigour.

Is anyone familiar with the specifics of this theory and just what this =
'paramagnetic' influence is. =20

I farm on the basaltic red krasnozem soils of the ex-rainforest region =
of Nth NSW Australia (Sub-tropical) and have heard anecdotes of =
hail-attracting bands of basalt in various localities here. Is this a =
part of this effect too?

Any pointers as to where a might find more information much appreciated.

Thanks,
Anthony.
