I've been following this interesting thread and have to add
my 2 cents. I enjoyed the box metaphor and how John used
it to make his point on the need for a wholistic
perspective. But in my own mind, I use a different
metaphor for sustainable agriculture--a spinning top.
This opens up a 4th dimension that involves balance,
direction, and momentum.
How this relates to what I consider the 4th aspect of
sustainability--spirituality--I am not sure. We have spent
very little time discussing this part of sustainability.
Surely part of sustainability is the notion of something
beyond our human, material world.
I suspect many of us have a sense of spirituality but why
do we so rarely talk about it in these public forums?
Just my 2 cents, Kate
