first, assuming that "organic" refers to organic farming (rather than
organic chemistry), one might want to compare the pesticidal substances
which are allowed under various organic certification schemes versus the
pesticidal substances which are allowed under usepa fifra/ffdca regulations
. . . or, one might want to compare all of the substances used in an organic
farming system of pest management (e.g., foliar nutrients, field
architecture) versus all of the substances used in other systems of pest
management (e.g., pheromone disrupters, sterile males)
second, there are many bases on which to compare organic and inorganic
pesticides -- breadth of spectrum, durability, avian toxicity,
worker/operator toxicity, food residues, aquatic toxicity . . . just to name
a few
