I've heard gambusia described as Missouri's only live-bearer, and
fish-producing facilities here raise them for sales to golf courses and
other locations where mosquitoes are a problem. Using a fine-mesh net you
should be able to capture them to extract from your pond - then why not move
them someplace where they could be of benefit (lessen mosquito populations
and earn enough to replace your koi)?
