One thing for everyone to consider is that fossil/geological based fuels
have a net carbon emission, from the moment that we begin searching for
them.

On the other hand, Biofuels, if properly grown and produced (ie
organicly in rotation with animals and other crops - ie the Rodale
experiment) are carbon "sinks" (reducers) during their production, and
may well be carbon sinks over their entire lifetime (alchohol fuels), as
they produce very little carbon when burned.

Also, the general petroleum calories required vs calories gained refers
almost always to Human potential Calories, not oxidation calories-
Furthermore, the calories required figure is based upon fertilizer and
pesticide intensive production, so those figures are much higher than
necessary.
