Good Earth Farm, Buena Vista, Virginia has a job opening for an assistant
farmer to help with market gardens, free range poultry, farm school and
construction projects. We are a 40-acre diversified farm in the Shenandoah
Valley of Virginia. We raise melons, strawberries, brambles, asparagus, meat
goats, free range broilers, layers and turkeys, bush hogs and grass fed
beef. We sell our farm products through our farm shop and to local health
food stores and restaurants. We will train the right candidate, but would
prefer someone with a farm background or work experience, and a sincere
interest in organic and sustainable agriculture. Interest in carpentry and
house building is a plus. Must be self-starting, able to work without close
supervision, willing to learn new tasks and follow directions and have a
desire to live the farming lifestyle. Starting pay is $300 per week. Housing
is not included but is readily available in nearby Lexington or Buena Vista.
