Impact of Research

Does anyone know of any studies that link research dollars spent on
agriculture to actual changes in farming practices? It can be a general
study, or specific to any given farming practice. I am trying to show that
when governments devote dollars to research, it does actually make a
difference in farming practices. I know it seems a little obvious, but I am
having trouble finding supportive material.

Thanks!
