I spoke with Laura Walter from USDA FNS who asked that I forward her
message to this list. Her request is below; it's addressed to school food
service professionals but she's looking for information from anyone.

Please reply to her directly: laura_walter@fns.usda.gov

Subject: Use of Organic Foods in School Food Service

Hello,

As part of a District menu planning committee, I'm looking for any
information you can share regarding schools that use organic produce,
organic grains, etc. in NSLP (National School Lunch Program)food service
operations. If you do use
organic foods, which ones? What percentage of your food purchases do they
represent? What are the barriers to using more organic foods? (Cost,
availability, other issues?) Any information you can provide would be a
big help! Thank you in advance for your responses.
