I don't know who CPE are but I know a lot of their press release is untrue

Well here in Ireland a great deal has been done under CAP and more is in
agenda 2000 to encourage a move towards sustainable agriculture - check out
the Rural Environment Protection Scheme on our Dept Ag web site - don't
have the address but it will link from the irlgov site somewhere

But most european governments are now doing something about it

>- it uses antibiotics in feedstuffs,
true - supposed to be prescription only for known on farm health problems
but law is broken - not permitted as growth promoters
tranquillisers
>for stressed animals,
not permitted in most european countries - would be interested to find out
where this is happening
> growth promoters,
no - banned throughout EU

ditto
regardless

banned unless testing at safe level
>animal fat from carcass disposal,
banned

I would like to point out that I am not an advocate of conventional farming
in any way - in fact I am a standards manager for an organic certification
scheme - but whoever is putting out this scaremongering rubbish is simply
playing into the hands of the multinational (not just american) companies
who are working so hard to prevent the consumer finding out just what is in
the food they eat.
