New Born chicks

Hi all. Being rather new to this farming thing, and on top of that we're
orchardists (not real farmers by some estimations), one of our chickens has
a newly hatched brood (?) of chicks. Our chickens are all free range and
have been left out at night as our barns are being leveled. We're
concerned about predators but at the same time concerned about introducing
mama and her chicks to a more captive surrounding. Should we attempt to
cage them at night and let them free range during the day? Should we
provide supplemental feed, and if so in what form? Cuz this is our first
experience in this type of thing your most detailed comments would be
appreciated.
