ORGANIC FARMING RESEARCH GRANTS AVAILABLE
(Santa Cruz, Ca.) The Organic Farming Research Foundation wishes to remind
farmers and other cooperators that the next deadline for submitting on-farm
organic research and education proposals to OFRF is July 15, 1999. OFRF
provides grants of up to $10,000 for organic farming research and education
projects through a competitive grants program. Farmer leadership and/or
involvement is a high priority for the OFRF board when they consider each
proposal.
Jane Sooby, OFRF's Technical Program Coordinator, is available to work with
farmers in developing and designing their research proposals. She can also
help connect them with local sources of assistance who have already studied
the question and who may have some insights on how to solve the problem.
To receive a copy of the OFRF PROCEDURES FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS along with
a list of all previous OFRF grant awards, please contact: Guidelines, OFRF,
P.O. Box 440, Santa Cruz, Ca. 95061. The Guidelines may also be downloaded
from the OFRF website, <www.ofrf.org>, or you can call 831-426-6606 and
request a copy.
Last spring the Board of Directors awarded over $63,000 in support of
eleven new on-farm research and education projects. Another $60-70,000 is
available for disbursement through the fall 1999 grantmaking cycle. To
date, OFRF has awarded over $520,000 in support of 102 organic research and
education projects.
The next deadline for proposals will be January 15, 2000.
OFRF's purpose is to foster the improvement and widespread adoption of
organic farming practices.
