Seems to me that farmers (like everyone else) who are concerned about using
GE products of any sort won't use them period. Urbanites have this
overriding concern about human health (note that much of the debate over GE
is about how it will affect humans), farmers tend to be more concerned
about system health. In other words, if I don't want to grow GE potatoes,
why would I want to feed my hens the same stuff?

Our chickens live very happily in our orchard, where they eat nasty insects
and look in through my father's study window - reading about biotech over
his shoulder. Such sounds of distress they make at every Avery article!

I do agree that chicken factories are horrible places, full of anxiety and
distress. I would love to see Greenpeace protesting in a chicken factory,
rather than their usual scenic fjords and Native whale hunts.
