It so happens I am a harper. That is, a maker and performer on the
traditional (folk) harp. A harper for harmony. Also a long-time
participant on this list, with a couple of academic credentials. It has
long been a goal of mine to put harp music to the service of sustainable
agriculture and development.
On June 3-5 I am planning to be in Toronto for the conference of the
Agriculture, Food, and Human Values Society. I'll be carrying a harp
pretty much wherever I go, so if you see me, please say hello. (If you are
planning events in Toronto, I hereby volunteer to perform. My program
includes storytelling as well as traditional music from many lands.)
Harping for Harmony Foundation exists to promote harmony and community,
locally and globally, through harp music. The tie-in between war and
ecological destruction is rather timely today as the headlines
mention the contamination of Serbia that is an "unintended consequence" of
aerial bombardment.
Whether I see you in Toronto or not, I'd like to announce my readiness to
go anywhere to collaborate with you, as suggested by John Fawcett-Long to
express "our movement" through the arts, or as Misha said to answer about
the "vision, passion, and spirit of sustainable ag."
