Northeast SARE Seeking Nominations

The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program has
four positions opening on its Administrative Council. Members of the
Northeast SARE Administrative Council help set policy, review grant
proposals, and
oversee program development. There is also opportunity for selected
committee
assignments.

Applicants and nominees should be active in the agricultural community
and have an understanding of the issues in sustainable agriculture.
Materials on the SARE mission and the work being done by the program are
available from the Northeast Region office at the address below, and at
www.uvm.edu/~nesare/.

The four opening slots opening are in the following areas:

* A representative from a nonprofit interested primarily in environmental
issues;
* A representative from an agriculturally oriented nonprofit;
* A person involved in rural economic development; and
* A representative from the for-profit sector in agriculture or
agribusiness.

Appointments to the Northeast SARE Administrative Council run three
years. The time commitment includes three meetings each year and the time
involved
in reviewing selected grant proposals. Costs associated with attending
meetings are paid by the program.

To apply, or to nominate a candidate, please send or e-mail the person's
name and contact information, along with a brief description of
qualifications and background, to Northeast SARE, Hills Building,
University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont 05405. E-mail:
nesare@zoo.uvm.edu. Applicants and
candidates from nonprofits should also include a brief history of the work
and
mission of their organization.
