Dean Nelson inquires about the Henry A. Wallace Institute for Alternative
Agriculture.

The Wallace Institute is a policy analysis, research, and education
organization. It was founded in 1983 by Garth Youngberg, with the support
of Henry Wallace's daughter, Jean Wallace Douglas, and other members of the
Wallace family.

Among its contributions to sustainable agriculture is the well-respected
American Journal of Alternative Agriculture, a refereed journal that
publishes research papers on sustainable agriculture and food policy.

It was the Wallace Institute that took on Dennis Avery recently,
challenging Avery's distortion of statistics from the Centers for Disease
Control to make it appear that organic food is harmful to your health.

The Wallace Institute most emphatically is not "a front group for chemical
manufacturers." I suggest you visit the institute's Web site at
www.hawaii.org for more information.

Standard disclaimers do not apply. I proudly serve on the Wallace
Institute's board of directors.
